Kids make cash with Skate Jam
Showing off may be discouraged by parents but these youngsters had plenty of reason to feel proud after raising cash for charity with their demonstrations at the Skate Jam afternoon in Bedfont.
Dozens of teenagers grabbed their bikes, inline skates and skateboards last weekend and headed to the event at Bedfont skate park, in Hatton Road.
And not content with just performing, the determined youngsters also organised and managed the entire project, which raised cash for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Foundation.
"The kids have managed to raise and bid for all the money they needed for the ramps and youth shelter here and they wanted to organise something to celebrate and really show what they're capable of," said council youth worker Mike Gower. "They did a fantastic job and they should all be really proud."
During the event all the teenagers were given 90 seconds to show off their skills. The money raised will now go to national charity Guide Dogs for the Blind.
