New Chairman for Ashford Hospital
The new chairman preparing to take the helm at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals next month has promised to improve patients satisfaction levels at the two hospitals.
Aileen McLeish, who has a Mechanical Sciences degree from Cambridge and has worked for Unilever and WWF UK, will hold the post for four years once she takes the reigns next month.
The mother-of-two, from Hampton, described her appointment as "a tremendous privilege" and promised to improve the way patients feel about the compassion and care they receive.
She added: "Patient feedback gives us a lower rating compared with the majority of other hospitals in the country. Improving our patients' experience will be will be the hospitals' key priority during my time as Chair."
Ms McLeish has been chosen for the role, which involves an average of 3-3.5 days a week and comes with a wage of £20,587, by the Appointments Commission's Health and Social Care Appointments Committee.
Making the announcement, outgoing Chairman Clive Thompson CBE said he had great confidence the Trust would be in good hands.
Trust chief executive Paul Bentley added: "Aileen is a strong leader who will play a major part in the Trust's development. As Ashford and St. Peter's enters a new era in the health service Aileen will provide a positive guiding hand towards improved services for patients and greater success for the Trust."
