Vicar and nurse raise £7,000
A vicar and nurse couple from Bedfont are nursing their sore calves and appreciating their home comforts after completing the long cycle ride from Poland to Lithuania.
Geoff Price, the vicar of St Mary's Church, and his wife, Hope, said they were delighted to have made it through the sponsored journey for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the charity where Hope has worked for 24 years.
The couple, who describe themselves as 'not really cyclists', said they had found the months of training 'arduous' but had enjoyed the trip itself.
At the end of the trip they headed to Druskininkai near the Lithuania/Belarus border to stay with some of Geoff's family and enjoy a well-deserved massage and sauna in a health spa.
Hope said: "We had numb fingers, sore knees and elsewhere, but felt proud of ourselves for keeping going to the end."
In total the determined duo raised £6,904. Marie Curie community fundraiser Russell Benson said: "This was a fantastic effort both cycling and fundraising. Anyone who fancies joining us for next year's event should get in touch soon."
