sandbanks.jpgIt is officially party time over at Sandbanks this week as staff and residents at the Bedfont care home celebrate a glowing Government report.

The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), awarded the home its top rating of three stars along with a positive report.

Paula Bilbie, who has been managing the home for five years, said: "We're absolutely delighted. This is a great community with dedicated staff, who work hard to give the residents what they want. We're going to have a party to celebrate."

The home provides 24-hour care for up to 26 people, including a unit specializing in the care of people living with dementia as well as a respite service.

It also has a community rehabilitation unit that caters for eight people at any one time for a maximum six-week stay.

This service is designed to help elderly people regain their independence and return home after an injury and is run in conjunction with the health authority that provides occupational therapy and physiotherapy support.

Ms Bilbie said: "People who stay with us want to be able to continue the activities they enjoyed in their own homes. Bowling and cooking are always particularly popular."

The inspection conducted in August assessed every aspect of the service and measured its performance against tough national criteria.

Cllr Peter Thompson, leader of London Borough of Hounslow, said: "The awarding of three stars from CSCI is a fantastic achievement. The rating shows the high level of effort, commitment and professionalism of Sandbanks staff."

This report will be available soon on the CSCI website.
