Beat the blues at volunteering event
Age Concern Feltham, Hanworth & Bedfont are hoping to see plenty of new faces at their 'Beat The January Blues' event tomorrow.
The volunteering open day is aimed at people who are feeling a little down and would like to try volunteering as a New Year 'pick-me-up'.
Age Concern finance officer Debby Morris said: "It's well documented that January 19th, is the most depressing day of the year, to help 'Beat the Blues' we invite everyone, of any age, to come and meet the staff and see what services we offer our local older community.
"You can change your own life and someone else's by giving an hour and a half, a morning, afternoon or day. The day centre and social groups are vital in relieving loneliness and isolation for older people, from making tea to escorting on the buses, any time you could give to these projects could really make a difference to someone."
The open day will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Friday January 23. For more information call Eileen on 020 8751 5829.
